First Bank Doubles Down on Its Roots with State-of-the-Art
Headquarters Designed for Exceptional Client and Employee Engagement

The Four-Story, 87,000-Square-Foot Headquarters Is Unlike Any Building in the Region.

ST. LOUIS  Today, First Bank celebrates the grand opening of its new headquarters in Creve Coeur, located just down the road from where the company got started in 1906. While the location furthers the bank’s history in, and commitment to, St. Louis, the building itself is thoroughly modern in its appearance and how it was designed for changing client expectations and employee work patterns.

First Bank designed the building to meet the needs of today and tomorrow’s on-the-go mobile clients and employees through best-in-class technology, banking tools, and a modern mindset to the workplace that is transforming the business from the ground up. First Bank worked with local partners Brinkmann Constructors, Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC), and Cobalt Construction Consulting to build its new home.

“The first thing people will notice about the building is how beautiful it is inside and out thanks to the tremendous work of our design and construction partners. But as folks spend more time there, they will appreciate how the design prioritizes employee wellness and provides a workspace that encourages flexibility, comfort, and collaboration to enable our team members to do their best work,” said Mike Dierberg, chairman of the board of First Bank. “This includes an abundance of inviting outdoor space for employees to work or to meet with clients, as well as flexible indoor space that is optimized for a hybrid work environment and helps break down silos.”

The new headquarters integrates architecture, interior design, and landscaping in a way that fosters innovation and prioritizes employee wellness. Features include access to natural light throughout the building, open indoor work areas with few assigned offices, outdoor work areas in the courtyard and third-floor bridge, and a patio on the fourth floor for entertaining prospects and clients. The building will be LEEDv4 BD+C Silver and WELLv2 Silver certified in recognition of efforts to make the building environmentally sustainable and employee friendly.

“This building is the first of its kind in the Midwest and it is strategically designed for the future of work,” said Tyler Meyr, executive director, Lamar Johnson Collaborative. “We collaborated closely with First Bank to bring their vision for a sustainable, innovative design to life, reflecting their commitment and pride in St. Louis.”

First Bank has been family-owned and operated since 1910 and serves as the bank of choice for family-owned and other privately held businesses. The new headquarters honors family legacy of past and future as it is built on the same land as the previous building that was constructed in 1967.

“As a long-time client and partner of the company, we are proud to be a part of First Bank’s ongoing success in the St. Louis region,” said Bob Brinkmann, chairman of the board, Brinkmann Constructors.
