First Bank honored United States Army Specialist James “JW” Woods in the First Bank Tribute to Those Who Served at the St. Louis Blues game on October 22, 2024. Watch the video as JW recounts his attempt to save his friend and commanding officer during the Vietnam War. He also graciously shares his appreciation for the warm homecoming on the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight that he and many other Vietnam Vets didn’t receive when returning from war. JW earned many awards for his service in Vietnam, including National Defense Service Medal, Marksman (M-14), Sharpshooter (M-16), and Vietnam Service Medal.
